The 555 Last is the classic New England moccasin last. Its medium width and broad toe provide exceptional comfort for nearly all foot types and its shape is well known to generations of outdoorsman from Down East.
Our Lodge Leather Soles are made from heavyweight Horween® Chromexcel Leather, providing unparalleled comfort and a surprising degree of durability when worn on non-abrasive surfaces like wood, tile, or carpeted flooring—or soft and dry outdoor surfaces. They are also a nod to American moccasins from the days of the Fur Trade.
Chromexcel is made using proprietary techniques and formulas developed over 100 years ago in a factory still owned and operated by the Horween family in Chicago. It's characterized by a rich pull-up in full aniline, hand-rubbed finish, superior comfort, and durability. Chromexcel was made famous by its patina—the unique character of each hide which comes to life with wear.
