Developed to embody the character of Chicago, the Elston last is engineered specifically for our line of Everyday Boots, providing exceptional all-day comfort for nearly all foot types with a generous toe box.
The 1091 Cork Sole is more than a faithful recreation of the hard rubber cork soles used widely in the mid-twentieth century in applications ranging from military to motorsports. This sole is lighter, grippier, and more shock-absorbent without compromising the durability or oil resistance for which cork soles are known. Each sole is affixed to a thick layer of leather, finished with brass tacks, and paired with a matching Dr. Sole 1101w Cork Heel.
Chromexcel is made using proprietary techniques and formulas developed over 100 years ago in a factory still owned and operated by the Horween family in Chicago. It's characterized by a rich pull-up in full aniline, hand-rubbed finish, superior comfort, and durability. Chromexcel was made famous by its patina—the unique character of each hide which comes to life with wear.
