Vibram's 1757 "Middlebury" Gumlite Sole is based on its 132 "sole that conquered Mt. Everest," but it is made from an ultralight EVA compound that provides excellent traction and shock absorption. Its strength is a product of its simplicity—a one-piece design with no glue or stitching that might be stressed by the elements.
